affix -sz
[s:]*
verbaliser
(VBZ)
 Ungrian
Etymology
a merger of a number of alternating Hungarian verbalizers (several transitive and one intransitive one), including "-(o/e)zik/-szik" (e.g. emlékezik ~ emlékszik "to remember"), "-(o/e)dik/-szik" (e.g. melegedik ~ melegszik "to get warmer") and, later on, "-(o/e)z" (but not -íroz!) (e.g. átkoz "to curse").
Notes
In the transitive verbalizer sense, the "-sz" form is affixed to stems ending with a consonant, while "-z" is affixed for stems ending with a vowel.
