About Itongpe An Itongpeic language spoken in Litene in Central Asuranesia. The name literally means 'language of the Itong', the largest ethnic group in Litene. The name 'Itong' itself derives from an Old Itongpeic word meaning 'settlers/stayers' based on the fact that the Itong stayed on the Itong Archipelago and developed farming, unlike many other Asuranesian cultures who are famous for their long voyages at sea.

Itongpe is part synthetic, part agglutinative, part analytical - making use of both suffixes and particles, whilst also having regular verb conjugations (and a few irregular ones). The phonology is inspired by Polynesian languages and Japanese, whilst the grammar is a mix of Chinese, Bantu, Polynesian, Japanese and Basque, exhibiting a topic-comment word order (typically arranged as SOV), case particles (including an agent-topic-subject distinction) and verb serialisation.
