Ab̌udzut
Once there was a man named Ab̌udzut. Ab̌udzut was a very stubborn man. People feared him and were deferent to him because he would always argue with them and he would always get his way. Ab̌udzut had two sons, Mafañ, the elder, and Ogis, the younger. One winter, Ab̌udzut's band moved to a pasture in the west beyond Qupsaz. The pasture was thick with grasses like no one had seen before, and the uldïbar fattened up well. At the end of the winter, the group was ready to move to the hills around Gadïn and Buspur. They said, "Ab̌udzut, it is time to go to the hills," but Ab̌udzut became angry and obstinate. "Why do you leave when this pasture still has such grass?" he said. "I will stay here, where there is plentiful grass. If it is wrong to stay here, then the Tëgër should take away all the grass." So the band left Ab̌udzut and his sons in the pasture and went toward the hills. The Tëgër, who heard Ab̌udzut's words, came to the pasture and took away all the grass as he had said, and the plain became a desert. The livestock had nothing to eat, so Ab̌udzut and his sons slaughtered them. But Ab̌udzut and his sons had no water, because the Tëgër also took away the river, so they died.
