Snixians, living in an alpine environment, believe in 2 afterlives.
The first is the Pond.
The Pond, viewable from any realm from the surfaces of water, is where one goes if their dead body - their "ýdva" - is placed within a pond.
The Pond is a volatile realm, separate from the cardinal realms, is similar to the realm which the ýdva is placed within.
One may be placed within a pond with all manner of items which will be given to them in the afterlife, for their fight for paradise.
If they are given enough food and weapons, they may be able to "survive" long enough to enter the second afterlife.
Entrance into the second aftelife is a task in and of itself, it requires resilience and foreplanning - and is completed by climbing the Mountain of the Beast, a landform constructed by the most devious entity - The Iskurre; a person with the tail and body of a Squirrel, the legs of a Fox, hands of a Minikin, and the head of a Goat. The Iskurre wanted all to have a chance at reaching paradise, but not without a test - a trial by perseverance.
When one would reach the top of the mountain, they would be greeted by a vast opening at the top lined with winding empty tubes carved into the rock-face by the Iskurre's offspring, small worm-like mammals, which make angelic tones akin to the the voice of a singing choir minikin as the Winds of Discouragement beat down upon the mountain peak.
As this soul hears the tones, they will begin to hear speech - "Your trial has not been in vain, my child, enter the Court of the Summit and be witness to paradise."
The Summit, the non-cardinal realm after The Pond, is an idealic realm which all who manage to enter will be treated to a paradise ripe with other summit-reachers, in which food is abundant and activies as well.
Anyone whom enters will be greeted by the Great Tree, the entity whom created the realms, who will patch up any of their wounds recieved on the ascent with sutures made of the opalescent glowing threads in place of leaves on the Tree's branches.
Then, the soul will be given access to the rest of the Summit - able to unlock the gates with their minikin hand, and will enjoy eternity in The Summit.
However, if one does not reach the summit, they will be stuck in The Pond. They will be forever banished to walk, alone, eating roots - the food of the unfortunate dead.
If one is killed in a hibernation burrow collapse, they will enter the pond but without any advantages. They will have to dig themselves out of the snow in vain, for no reward at the surface other than the solace of freedom in a fruitless world.
The unfortunate dead can interact with the newly dead, and through touching them - the Touch of a Ghost - can take their place as an almost living soul and enter paradise for themselves, banishing this new soul to their previous misfortune. ✎ Edit Article ✖ Delete Article
