Menu 1. Cause 2. Effect 3. Cause and Effect Nithalos has a few ways of expressing a cause and a effect.

[top]Cause

When just stating a cause (with no effect given), you can use the particles đo or da. There is no difference between the two semantically, however đo can only be used with verbs. These two are always placed at the very end of the phrase (only se or a conjunction may follow) in these cases.

Vrior sou kuđniva? Why'd you buy that? Tasiva đo! Because I wanted to!
When the cause is just expressed as a noun or something similar, then you can only da. This is often translated to English as 'because of'.
Vrior sot eštiva? Why'd you go there? Tenki da. Because of the weather.
When using da like this, it can occur mid-sentence.
Avi tenki da plaša to eštiva Because of the weather, we went to the beach.
[top]Effect
To show the effect of an action in Nithalos, you can use the particle đia. This is always placed before the effect, regardless of the rest of the sentence. Generally, a comma will be placed after đia.
Đia, avi anađ gata vas eštivaya kyan. As a result, we were forced to go by a different means.
[top]Cause and Effect
When combining the two, you only need to mark one or the other. You always mark whichever comes second in the sentence. Cause, then effect When the cause is listed first, you use the effect particle đia to join the two. In this case, the comma will use appear before đia.
Veda amvuniva, đia avi plaša to eštišavayo. Yesterday was raining, so we weren't able to go to the beach.
Effect, then cause There are a couple of ways this can be achieved. In most cases here you would use the đo particle at the beginning of the sentence. However, if the second phrase was short enough, you could also use đo particle at the end, or alternatively, use da.
Avi plaša to eštišavayo, đo veda senpođ neti amvuniva. We couldn't go to the beach, because it rained the whole day yesterday.
Veda avi plaša to eštišavayo, amvuniva đo. Yesterday we couldn't go to the beach, because it rained.
Veda avi plaša to eštišavayo, amvuniva da. Yesterday we couldn't go to the beach, because it rained.
Alternately (depending entirely on context), you may be able to combine the phrases:
Veda avi amađ da plaša to eštišavayo. Yesterday we couldn't go to the beach because of the rain.
