Bonin (Bonin: 樹町語/쵸뎽뇌 Choteŋ ŋö [t͡ɕɔ.tɛŋ.ŋø]) is a language isolate spoken on the Bonin islands. However, according to some linguists, it also has ties to the Austronesian language family and the hypothetical Altaic language family. It is also in the same universe as Formosan Creole and Yitekel. The phonology is basically throwing Marshallese and Korean into a mixer. The grammar is probably A priori.
Game Idea: Guess if I made the word up, or if it has actual connections to natlangs
Features of Bonin:
-Human and Non-Human distinctions
-Topic Markers
-VOS Word Order
-Sino-Xenic Vocabulary
-Past and Non-Past Tenses
-Velarization!
-(Maybe) related to the Polynesian languages
-Uh
Basically Sami: East Asian Edition
