[comments] [history] This is an incomplete list of productive derivational morphology in  WWM.
While its parent language  Wa Ñi has very little derivational morphology but rich compounding, WWM has grammaticalized several common compounding strategies, resulting in a more robust derivational morphology. However, it continues to rely on compounding as a productive strategy for making more words.

Nouns from modifiers:
  • nya-/nya-: state of being X (9/9) [from Wa Ñi yò]


Nouns from nouns:
  • -ika/-i: small (7/8) [origin unclear, possibly sound-symbolic]
  • ka-/ku-: fruit of a plant (preserves root class) [from ka/ku 'fruit']
  • minngi-/minngi--p(a): human who has X (1/2) [from WWM minngi 'face']
  • minngiku-/minngiku--p(a): human who has no X (1/2) [from minngi- + ku-]
  • nya-/nya-: condition of being X (9/9) [from Wa Ñi yò]
  • -tta/a--tta: large (9/10) [from tta 'big', from Wa Ñi trò 'heavy']
  • twa-/tyarra-: place of X (5/6) [from WWM twa 'place']

  • Ø/a-V́: thing with which the verb is done (9/10)
  • nya-/nya-: process of doing X (9/9) [from Wa Ñi yò]
