About Veuing
The Véuing language (natively: Véuing nyi' syâr) is spoken in the Wine Islands and on the Cayse Peninsula of southwestern Nimesia. This area is collectively known as Véuing Nyi' - the Iron Country. The Véuing people are ruled centrally by an Emperor and the basic social structure is centered around villages ruled by a chieftain chartered by the Emperor. The Véuing are hospitable to outsiders, with every village having at least rudimentary accommodations ready to be made available to guests at a moment's notice. Joining Véuing society, however, is much more difficult, and normally occurs only when one marries into a village or pledges fealty to the Emperor.
The language is highly analytic and exhibits a strong head-initial tendency at both the lexical and the syntactic level. The word order is basically SVO. Véuing is a contour-tone language with four contrastive tone profiles, plus an additional profile informed by the presence of a coda stop. In keeping with its speakers hierarchical social structure, the Véuing language has grammaticalized different social registers and has a complex pronoun system.
