About Torrmaliq Torrmaliq is a mostly synthetic language with an SVO alignment. Torrmaliq belongs to “Torrachait” language family, which has dubious but possible connections to the much larger Garnelic Family. Some of the more notable features of Torrmaliq is its gargantuan phoneme inventory and it’s strange use of an inflectional system.

Torrmaliq, much like “Langue d’oïl” or French is closer to a Dialect continuum with 3 primary intelligibility groups:

Western “Shorl/Shwazk”
Central Torrmaliq proper “Shreznh”
Eastern “Siberi/Slaznj”
As well as a couple of Sister Languages: “Corrund/Turrel,” “Paladinian,” and “Eyetzi”

The inflectional system within Torrmaliq works very uniquely compared to other languages. To begin, Linguists speculate that its oversized inventory is a result OF the inflectional system, vowels and consonants are known to change and morph in a predictable manner

Syllable StructureTorrmaliq follows a very cohesive yet clustered structure system with a CCC(S)V(S)CCC structure
1. Voiced consonants can only be next to other voiced consonants and visa versa.
2. A syllable can have no more than 3 consonants UNLESS one is syllabic
3. Syllable consonants are treated as vowels, and can recieve the same modifications as vowels (see below)

There are several consonant clusters that are counted as one consonant rather than 2; /t͡s/ /d͡z/ /t͡θ/ /d͡ð/ /k͡x/ /ɡ͡ɣ/ /q͡χ/ /ɢ͡ʁ/ all of which are technically phonemes, however the way they are treated in inflection makes it seem as though they are allophones, though the circumstances that made them appear vanished sometime during Torrmaliq’s development.
Stress informationStress within Torrmaliq is heavily focused upon the second or last syllable, or syllables with non syllabic consonants.
OtherVowels and consonants can be modified further for purely grammatical reasons, and thus are considered identical to their non modified counterparts.

Both vowels and consonants can experience /◌ˀ/ /◌ˤ/ /◌ː/

And then there are similar modifications but are individually different: Breathy voice upon Vowels /◌̤/ and aspiration upon consonants voiced or unvoiced /◌ʰ~◌ʱ/. Secondly, there is nasalization /◌̃/ or pre nasalization upon consonants /ⁿ◌~ᵐ◌~ᶯ◌~ᶰ◌~ᵑ◌/
