About Mappa
Mappa was an archaic human language spoken in prehistoric times in the Common Lands. Mappa was widespread and gave birth to many modern languages.
Mappa is an analytical language, though it does feature some inflections:
Verbs are marked with particles for tense (non-future, future, or remote past) and aspect (progressive, perfect, or habitual). A prefix may be applied to indicate mood: "a-" is used for imperative, "u-" is used for optative, and "i-" is used for conditional. The unmarked form is assumed to be indicative.
Nouns are marked for direct object in transitive verbs with "-pu". Ditransitive verbs mark the direct object with "-pun" and indirect object with "-pan". Nouns can also take "una-" prefix for genitive case (used to construct adjectives and adverbs) and "ina-" for locative (indicates in/on/at/around,etc.). Unmarked nouns are generally the subject of a sentence.
Nouns can be adjectivized or adverbialized by applying the genitive case.
## As of Dec-1-2023 voiced phonemes have been purged and changed from a 5-vowel system to a 3-vowel system. Words created before this have not been changed (at this time, or if ever). I used too many sounds and thought it would be better to pare down so that future languages might distinguish more, different phonemes.
