Kantrë is the language of the people of Kantras, a medium-sized nation that is a powerhouse of culture and commerce. Kantrë is considered to be an international language across Aqwa, similar to English in real life or "Common" in D&D, yet not as standardised as either.
Kantrë is characterised by the deep piety and isolationism of its culture. Each of the ten gods of Kantras corresponds to each of the ten distinct vowels of Kantrë, which in turn corresponds to an animacy category that applies to all lexical words of the language. Three of these categories are doubled by means of a slight affixation adjustment for a total of 13 animacy distinctions. Notably, the vowels corresponding to each category are so powerful that the subject vowels of a word are prone to changing height in derivation processes to come closer to the height of the animacy vowel.
In truth, the association of vowels with gods was somewhat of a coincidence that the Kantrian ministry of education took advantage of to create a false notion that Kantrë is in itself a language of "divine symmetry". Kantrë had remained quite static in terms of its orthography (and pronunciation, to a lesser degree) for more than a millenium, but during the last couple of centuries it has been undergoing a process of vowel merging, which is reflected in the vernacular. That vernacular, dubbed Kantrë Taqÿ, started turning into a quasi-lingua-franca across Aqwa around the same time the vowel merging started occuring, which is why the ministry of education, in an attempt at conserving the supposed "divine symmetry", formalised Kantrë Kentÿ, the "proper" language.

Taqÿ is the vernacular. Its orthography is identical to Kentÿ, but its phonology and grammar are not. Some new words have been borrowed from other languages.
Phonological changes:
- mid vowels are no longer phonemically distinct and are blended with high or low vowels
- voiced fricatives lenite, causing massive sound changes around them
- /ɬ/ turns to /ç/
Grammatical changes:
- adpositional case drops for the accusative
- middle voice merges with the passive
