About Hoennese In-universe
Hoennese (詞緣豐 Pun-yan kuɂba /puɴ.yaɴ kuʔba/) is spoken natively by about 8 million people, primarily by Hoennese & Draconid people, as well as several species of pokémon, and primarily in Hoenn, the only country where it is the national language. Hoennese belongs to the Yashima-Ryukyuan language family. There have been many attempts to group the Yashima-Ryukyuan languages with other families such as the Ainu, Austroasiatic, Koreanic, and the now-discredited Altaic, but none of these proposals have gained widespread acceptance.

Out-of-universe
Hoennese is an a posteriori cloŋ based on Old/Early Middle/Classical Japanese (and Middle Korean for the on'yomi), and one of the main languages of my Hoennverse conworld (alongside Kantonian and Johtonian, i.e. Tōkyō- and Kyōto-dialect Japanese, and several other WIP cloŋs such as Draconid, Iisaana, and Machampese).
