About Muhutwa
Daughter of a granddaughter language from ReCONstruct 2018. For my own conamusement and now yours too! It’s spoken by about 300,000 modern people on a semiarid plateau. They really like tortillas.
Features:
Smallish consonant system with pharyngeals. Big vowel system with length and contrastive rounding. I hope you like glottal stops.
Singulative and plural suffixes with multiple allomorphs. Nothing is ever easy.
Noun phrases inflect for definiteness/number/case or topicality, but not both. You can’t have your case and eat it too.
Stress is completely regular but follows a complicated flowchart in terms of actual assignment. Easy for native speakers.
Conscript has a billion ligatures and represents underlying morphemes before morphophonological transformations. Distinguishes phonemes that have merged for most speakers. You need some bullshit to make spelling bees possible, after all.
Productive consonant fortition and lenition. Kinda like the Celtic consonant mutations you love, but stranger: y alternates with k and l sometimes appears from nowhere.
Analytic-going-on-fusional, mostly verb-initial typology. Not sure what natlang its crazy syntax would even compare to.
