About Eilean A creole of Scottish Gaelic and English, developed from a small wrecked fleet in the 19th Century (some of whom were monolingual Gaelic speakers, and some of whom were English speakers). The language has a Gaelic set of functional words and syntax (albeit drastically simplified), with a largely closed class of verbs from Gaelic, and a smattering of loans in nouns and adjectives from Gaelic. Certain features are unique to the creole, appearing in neither English nor Gaelic.
