About Bengali Of Buzhen An Eastern Indic language spoken in Longchuan county, Dehong Dai autonomous prefecture, in southwestern Yunnan province, China. Speakers officially categorized as 'Jingpo' even though they consider themselves a distinct group. Language most closely related to Bishnupriya Manipuri, and officially described as 'Bengali' even though speakers do not describe their language as 'Bengali', but a distinct tongue.

The speakers of Bengali of Buzhen migrated to their present location from eastern Manipur around 1200. Since then, the language has undergone significant changes, including development of tone, simplification of grammar, and a general shift towards conforming to the isolating Southeast Asian type. Lexically, it has been influenced first by Meithei and then by early forms of Southwestern Tai. In more recent times, it has come into contact mainly with Zaiwa and Tai Nüa, but also Jingpo and Burmese, with most modern loanwords being taken from Southwestern Mandarin.
