In romanizations, stress is unmarked.
The placement of stress depends on the number of syllables:
- one syllable: stressed if long vowel.
- two syllables: stressed on first syllable.
- three syllables: The stress falls on the second syllable.
- Any word more than three syllables is stressed on the third.
- EXCEPTION: "ā" almost always takes primary stress.
- EXCEPTION: verbs, types 1-4 of which always put primary stress on the second syllable.
