Animal names are created by combining an affix that refers to a certain type of animal, e.g quadrupedal or flying and an adjective. There are exceptions since the more common animals have completely original words to refer to them since they are more common such as áni. This system isn't as widely used anymore but its effects remain as can be seen in the old names for certain animals, this system is also used to refer to animals that are unfamiliar, usually those from outside Nimandrus such as the dacǐe of Chū-Mèe. Note that the order is important

Here's an example: éta nag is a black flying animal (probably bird of some kind) whereas nag+éta=nagéta which is a specific kind of bird called, you guessed it, nagéta. These names are not always descriptive in terms of the animal's physical appearance, ox+for=oxfor where "ox" describes the function of the animal as being a physically strong beast tasked with handling heavy loads with say farming, again this is a specific animal as opposed to for ox which is a general reference to a strong quadrupedal animal.
