Menu 1. Pre-History
Ravania is a moderately sized country. The population is about 24 million (2012 estimate), and about 21 million speak Ravanian. The other three million speak minority languages such as Poatian, Nagasta and Lirian. To the North, Ravania is bordered by Poas, Liria and Nagastan, and the south borders the Lucerian Sea.

Ravania was a monarchy right from it's independence in 1414 up until 1891 when it became a parliamentary democracy. The last ruling monarchs of Ravania were King Potas IV who reigned from 1876 until his death in 1891, and his consort, Queen Lana. The decision was made to convert to a parliamentary democracy in 1888 due to King Potas IV not siring any children, however it was ruled that the king would first finish his tenure.

The current (as of 15.04.2018) Ravanian First Minister (Mënastra Prëm) is Arno Lanaxa /ærnɔ lænæt͡ʃæ/ who was voted into power in March of 2017. Tenure as First Minister is generally three years.

[top]Pre-History

Before its independence in 1414, Ravania was a long disputed territory of Liria. The earliest known settlements in modern day Ravania date back to around 2400bc. It is believed that the Ravanian Language is a distant descendant of Proto-Lirian, an ancient language that pre-dates even Latin. In many old settlements, stone carvings containing carved Proto-Lirian petroglyphs were found, the language is still being deciphered by scholars today, but most evidence so far points to one or two tantalising similarities.

Between 400bc and 10ad, Nagastani forces invaded modern-day Ravania in an attempt to take the land from the Lirians. The Nagastani brought with them a new religion, Baranism. Religion was already a part of the culture in Liria at the time, although not much is known about the old belief system as the Nagastani implemented brutal religious persecution, destroying almost everything to do with the old religion. One or two fragments remain of the old religion, and it is believed to have been a polytheistic religion with reverences to the sun, moon and sea.

In the year 10ad, Lirian knights had perfected weapon- and armour-masonry in the far north of Liria, away fromthe reach of the Nagastani occupiers.
