Menu 1. A typical Ngycetian Family Unit

Cebus Ngycetians, the prehistoric Terran people of the continent of Ngycet, had a genetically-instilled need to organise their society matrineally, since they were of capuchin monkey descent. Some cultures had small, isolated family units, while others considered all to be their family; in all cases, the women took the place of the family head, at least during times of peace.

This article will go over 1. A typical Ngycetian family unit, and common exceptions to the norm; 2. How new family units are created; 3. Basic familial and kinship terms; 4. Basic manners and polite words/honourifics.

[edit] [top]A typical Ngycetian Family Unit
(and common exceptions to the norm)

Ngycetian families were usually matrineal in nature, and always heirarchical. Members of a certain level of the heirarchy would tend to stick to their level when socializing.

These are the levels:

Central Coven
The central coven was the top level of the heirarchy, typically populated with siblings, and almost always with women.
There were very few instances of Ngycetian cultures containing a central coven of only men.
Sometimes the offspring of a Coven member were promoted to Coven member themselves, before the death of their parent.

Central Offspring
The children of the members of the Coven, populated with an even mix of girls and boys. Once a boy became old enough, he would move to another family to become part of a harem. Once a girl became old enough, she would move to the lower coven.

Lower Coven
Women that are the children of a Central Coven reside here. They have their own harem, of which the Central Coven can access, but the Lower Coven cannot access the Central Harem.

Central Harem
Hand-picked by the Coven, the central harem was populated by lovers, and spouses of the Coven, typically men.
In most cultures, the harem was polygamous, with no care over who the father of a child could be, while in others, the harem was simply a social caste, not an actual polyamourous harem.

Lower Harem
The default caste a man becomes a part of when he migrates to a new family.
