Gregorian equivalents are still WIP, given its calculative complexity.

[top]Overview

Lithian has its own (solar) calendar system that was standardized around 600 years ago, shortly after the Unification, in which the three kingdoms of the three islands (Mailan, Tenefe, Mothe) unified to create the nation of Luhangida as we know today. It is known as the Heron calendar, derived from the words Marhan "month" and Laneron, which is described below.

The Heron calendar's 12 months are named after the 12 Lanerons, or, the stellar sub-deities of Hanagant. The Lanerons represent the 12 zodiac constellations, with the Delia of Cosmos, Nathasha, as well as the Delia of Afterlife, Vezura, as the Lanerons' master. The Lanerons are symbolized not as the zodiacs itself with all the astrological stuff, but as "the one who watches us (Lithians) from the heavens". Lithians believe that the Lanerons can watch everything that they do, thus, recording good deeds and sins of each and every people, to be reviewed by the Delia of Afterlife, Vezura.

Lithian calendar's first day, or year one, falls on November 10, 1293, or about 700 years ago, which is when the last prophet Maida was born. This makes the calendar mostly out of sync with the original zodiac dates in favor of Maida, although each Lanerons are represented similarly to each of the zodiacs. When this article is written (January 5, 2017), the Lithian calendar date is around Menairon 26.724 (Heron leap year!).

Heron calendar does work similarly to the Gregorian calendar, except with a different January 1st and a different 1 AD. During leap years, which falls every 4 years (but not on 100s that can't be divided by 400, just like Gregorian), an extra day is added to Menairon, making Menairon a 31-day month.

Notation
Heron dates are notated in the following order: Month Day.Year. (There are no weeks in Heron.) For example, the 1st day of the 6th month (which is Kirli) of the 721st year is notated as Kirli 1.721.

Lack of weeks?
Heron does not have weeks, and for them, it's not a problem. Religious "weekly" prayers happen on every 5th date of the month (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30). When it comes to "weekends", it happens on 8, 9, 10, 18, 19, 20, 28, 29, 30, and 31. This means there are 10 off-work -or- off-school days. This might sound strange to the people of Terra, but this is Luf. It's different-ish.
