About Amanghu  Amanghu (CYRILLICUnknown code: ама̎ңюу̎ PINYINUnknown code: amánghoú HANZIUnknown code: 天語 IPAUnknown code: amáŋɥɯ́) or "the language of the open sky", also known as erroneously as Tienic Chinese, Gam Chinese, and Chinese Altaic, is a mostly-analytic, isolating Sino-Tibetan isolate spoken mainly in Altay Province, Xinjiang, in the People's Republic of China, as well as neighbouring regions of Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Russia. It's the historic language of the Gam people, also known as the Blue People (CYRILLICUnknown code: г̆а̎мцѡ̎ıк PINYINUnknown code: ghámtsóık HANZIUnknown code: 藍族 IPAUnknown code: /gʰámt͡só̰k/).

Old Amanghu was originally spoken by nomadic tribes in what is now northern China between c.200 AD and c.800 AD. The ancestor of Old Amanghu is commonly considered to be a Sinitic language with a close relationship to Old Chinese, but this classification remains contentious. Amanghu vocabulary is largely sourced from Proto-Sinitic, the ancestor language that it shares with Old Chinese, with a large number of loan words from Kyrgyz, Mandarin and Cantonese. Although Amanghu is often referred to as a variety of Chinese, it is distinct from "true" Chinese languages as it is not descended from Old Chinese.

Amanghu is tonal, featuring neutral and high tones, as well as phonemic tense and lax vowels (creaky and normal), providing for four "tone-like" varieties of each vowel. Amanghu also features aspirated varieties of many of its consonants.

Amanghu is traditionally written in both Chinese characters and a version of Cyrillic, and the two written traditions are often used interchangeably. Cyrillic is used almost exclusively for speakers outside of China.
