About Numuzuna In August 1935, Doctor Raymond Price left from Brisbane on his way to a convention in St. Petersburg where he was to discuss his specialty: anthropology. Unfortunately, he never made it to St. Petersburg. While over a remote section of the Solomon sea, his Douglas DC-2 hit a flock of birds and crashed into the pacific ocean. Dr. Price, the only survivor found himself on an desert island, stranded and alone. For months, he foraged and explored all over the island never once seeing another person. Then one day he decided to climb the volcanic mountain that dominated the island, and when he did, he made a most peculiar discovery.

There, at the top of the mountain was a group of south pacific islanders living in seclusion. Dr. Price was happy that he was not alone, and even happier that he could practice his science on an isolated group. He quickly learned however, that they were not savages but a diverse group of Asians and Hindus who had pilgrimaged to this place seeking enlightenment. The men and women of this group spent their days meditating, writing philosophies, and conjecturing with each other about the nature of the universe.

Dr. Price lived among these people and learned many wonderful things from them, including their strange language, a language without verbs or tenses. This language, called Numuzuna, is presented here as it was described in Dr. Price's journals, including an extensive lexicon. Flying in the face of what modern linguistics would have us believe, the verb-less language of Numuzuna is a rich natural language that can be used to discuss some of the most profound ideas humans can imagine.
