About Nemendic
Nemendic (or Nemendej) is a language from a project I'm working on called Eternal Blue Sky (Zégir Möni Netes in Nemendic), which is set in the world of Zengri. It originated among the Western Mende (Nemende) of the Western Greater Átar Islands (primarily the island of Bǫsztáb) via the mixing of the old Mëngdey language, spoken by nomadic migrants from Manaktu, and several Miqmar languages. It became a lingua franca in the Greater Átars during the turmoil of the Termite Kingdoms Period (Pásti Zakárán az Mejiny), in which the Kingdom of Bosztab was the most stable power in the archipelago, and became more prominent with the rise of the Qereg Empire.
Nemendic is an ergative-absolutive language with verbs that conjugate for the "experiencer" of the action (rather than the agent) and whose default form is the aorist tense/aspect. Nouns fall into five classes (rational, irrational, inanimate, location, and abstract) that determine the definite/specific article they use and two grammatical genders (animate and inanimate) that are used for all other forms of noun agreement. They decline for three numbers (singular, dual, and plural), with the singular forms also being used as the general/collective/indefinite number. There are nine cases (absolutive, ergative, two genitives, dative, locative, instrumental, comitative, and benefactive) that are marked on the definite/specific articles or indicated with independent particles. The default word order is VOS.
