About Modern Mewling
Modern Mewling (Ḿaw [mʲɑu] or Ḿawomë Naw [mʲɑˈwomə nau]) was an eastern Mewling language spoken primarily on the east coast of the supercontinent of Rodinia by the mew species. It was a direct descendant of Eldermewling, spoken by the original mews of the Myumar Island, and received little to no influence from other languages over its estimated 467 million years of existence. Pushmaran Mewling (Pushmazmë Ḿaw [ˌpuʃˈmazmə mʲau]) was by far the most widely spoken variety, originating in the city-state of Pushmar and becoming a lingua franca as the Pushmaran Empire spread across the continent. It was an agglutinative language with large amounts of inflection preserved from Eldermewl, and made use of a conjugation system similar to austronesian alignment. It’s standard word order was Subject-Object-Verb, but expressed free word order to convey grammatical meaning. Modern Mewling used the Pushmar Script, an abugida that developed from the Old Runes of Eldermewling.
