About Jalu
It is a language of unknown origin. The earliest record of the language is at the same place where it is spoken today. It is primarily fusional, head initial, and non-tonal. It has its own script, though a Romanized writing system was introduced to it after Pinyin had been introduced to Mandarin. Today, Jalu speakers learn both scripts at school and use the traditional script when writing and the romanized script on digital devices. Earlier writings of the language were written from right to left, but later on it adopted the more common left-to-right writing direction. Due to its geographic location, a fair amount of vocabulary from Cantonese is introduced to it, though there does not seem to be grammatical or phonetic influence to it.
