About Simplified Chickasaw Simplified Chickasaw [the name might change] is an idea of what Chickasaw might have been. Basically, it is an alternate version of Chickasaw in a science fictional future Earth.

After studying Chickasaw for a while, I've wondered a few things:

  • How would it look if it had never become an endangered language?
  • What changes could make it easier to pronounce?
  • How might the phonology have changed if it had a bigger number of speakers?
  • How would Chickasaw derive technical and scientific terms?
  • What kind of slang or curse words might Chickasaw have developed?
  • How can certain trickier aspects of Chickasaw grammar be simplified?
  • What can Chickasaw tell us about other now-extinct Muskogean languages?
  • Can Chickasaw's spelling system be changed to something more aesthetic and functional? What kind of writing system would work for Chickasaw that is both functional and reflective of of its rich history?

Simplified Chickasaw is my exploration of these and other questions.
