About Zebesian (OLD)
ēṭ ṛʰ xuž!
ēṭ ṛh xuž! /ɛ:ʈ ʀʰ xɯʒ/
Hello! (lit. "I greet and wish you well!")
This language is based off of the Chozo from the video game series Metroid. This specific version is for the Chozo who lived on the Zebes colony, but there is also  Talloric for the Talloric Chozo, and  Homeworld (OLD), which is the common ancestor of Zebesian and Talloric Chozo.

EDIT: I’m aware of Metroid Dread’s now canonical Chozo language. I’m still trying to figure out how I want to approach that, but this project is years in the making, so I’m not going to abandon it. We’ll see.
EDIT: This form of Zebesian has been retired. See the updated form here:  Zebesian

Syllable StructureComplex consonant clusters are allowed and frequent. A voiced continuant followed by /h/ becomes syllabic followed by /ʔ/.
Stress informationStress has a hierarchical system in Zebesian. It goes:
- pitch accent (á) takes first priority. If there is no pitch accent, then
- long vowel (ā) is stressed. If there is no long vowel, then
- diphthong (ai) is stressed. If there is no diphthong, then
- the penultimate syllable is stressed. If a word is only one short pitchless syllable, then
- it becomes enclitic, passing its syllable onto the previous word.
All stressed syllables, regardless of the presence of a pitch accent, are a higher pitch than the rest of the word. Pitch accents just have a more pronounced distinction.
