Aeolian has three linguistic genders, known as the polite or respectful, neutral, and despective or disreputable genders.

Genders of Nouns

Aeolian nouns decline according to their number, gender, and case. See their declination tables here:
Polite
Neutral
Despective

There is no way to tell what gender a given noun is from looking at its root (nominative singular) form - you have to memorize them. That said, there are some general trends that can help you guess most of the time:

1. The genders have a weak association with certain vowels. Specifically, a and diphthongs containing it are associated with the polite gender; e, ö, and diphthongs with them are associated with the neutral gender; and o, u, and their diphthongs are associated with the despective gender.
Since some of the noun-case-marking prefixes and verb endings vary between containing a, e, and o for nouns of the polite, neutral, and despective genders respectively, it is theorized that the gender system may have evolved from a historic vowel harmony system.

2. In general, concepts and things that hold high esteem in Aeolian society, such as the forces of nature, important jobs and places, and things necessary for life, take the polite gender. Concepts and things thought of as harmful, bad, useless, shameful, or disgusting generally take the despective gender.

Genders of Pronouns

Aeolian pronouns decline like singular Aeolian nouns of the same gender and case, even when the pronoun itself is plural.

As for personal pronouns, the rules for politeness are something like:
Talking to someone above you: 1st person neutral, 2nd person polite

Talking to someone on your level: 1st person neutral, 2nd person neutral

Talking to someone on your level (in very formal situation or both of you are very high status): 1st person polite, 2nd person polite

Talking to someone below you: 1st person polite, 2nd person neutral

Talking to Flightless (when you are an Aeolian): 1st person polite or neutral, 2nd person despective

Talking to Flightless (when you are Flightless): 1st person neutral, 2nd person neutral

Talking to Aeolians (when you are Flightless): 1st person despective, 2nd person polite

And some common or less common exceptions to the rules:
You are in an edgy teen gang: 1st person despective, 2nd person despective

You are Katsuki Bakugou: 1st person neutral, 2nd person despective

You are Black☆Star from Soul Eater: 1st person polite, 2nd person despective

You are debasing yourself to beg a favor or apologize to someone: 1st person despective, 2nd person polite

Notes
Linguistic gender is the only kind of gender found on Aeolia. Aeolian society does not have the social construct of gender.
When they came into contact with species that did have this concept, Aeolia rejected the idea as the pointless delusions of a lesser species, like they do with most concepts that other species have and they don't.
