Ame Calendar is a solar calendar, a regular year of the Ame Calendar consists of 365 days, and a leap year consists of 366 days.

The new year of Ame Calendar starts on 21st or 22nd December of the Gregorian Calendar. Each year of the Ame Calendar consists of 12 months, each month consists of 30 or 31 days, the 1st, 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th month of the calendar has 31 days, the other months have 30 days in regular years. When there's a leap year, the leap day is added to the end of the 7th month, making the 7th month have 31 days.

In the Ame Calendar, every year that is exactly divisible by four is a leap year, except for years that are exactly divisible by 128, that is, there are 31 leap years every 128 years. There are no other rules for placing leaping years.

Unlike the usual decimal system, Ame calendar uses a base-12 system, a century of the Ame Calendar consists of 144 years, and is divided into 12 decades, and each decade of the Ame Calendar consists of 12 years.

In Ame Calendar, a day is divided into two parts: the "before midday" and the "after midday", and both of the "before midday" and the "after midday" are divided into 12 hours, thus there are 24 hours each day in the Ame Calendar.

Although Kema Mi Amo now mostly uses the solar-based calendar, Ya Amo fishermen and underwater divers also use a system of lunar calendar, as the lunar calendar is more accurate and convenient in predicting the tidal cycles. Scholars think the lunar calendar predates the solar calendar among Ya Amo people.
