Ame people believe that the rainbow is a bridge between the world of living people and the world of dead people, the soul of dead people go to the land of ancestoes through the rainbow bridge.

In early versions, everyone would enter the land of ancestors regardless of what she has done when she’s alive; but since the 16th century, under the influence of Buddhism, people start to believe that the souls of bad people would become too heavy to cross the bridge so the souls of bad people would fall from the bridge and get bitten by immortal piranhas, or fall into an abyss and end up being in the hell; it is also said that the souls of ordinary people would not pass the bridge but their sould would not fall into rhe hell either, and the souls of ordinary people would just reach the ground and reincarnate into a new body.
