[edit] [top]Introduction

EiyrnasEnglish: /aɪjɪɹnɪs/
Yenán: /eʔjərnɐs/
, the Eiyrn faith, or the Eiyr belief is an ancient religion of Sahar that originated in the Greater Yerlan Area. Eiyrnas is the worship of a specific deity called EiyrYenán: e'jér /eʔjəɹ/1, hence the word Eiyrnas. There is however an entire pantheon of deities which are worshiped optionally alongside Eiyr. This makes Eiyrnas a henotheistic religion to many of it's followers and a polytheistic one to many others.

The word Eiyrnas or e'jérnas, in Yenán, is formed from, e'jér, 'Eiyr' a name with unknown etymology, and the ancient word nas, which meant 'gift(s)' or 'allowance(s)'. Therefore Eiyrnas can be literally translated to 'Eiyr's gift'. This is apt for Eiyr is the giver of various human aspects such as language, law, justice, order, and rulership

[edit] [top]Pantheon

The Eiyrn pantheon stems from three greater beings often called aspects or essences from which all the other lesser beings were made, including Eiyr. These beings made by the aspects are called the Greater Divines, or zelzi'eYenán: /zelziʔə/
Lit. 'big deity'
and Each zelzi'e represents a certain aspect of reality. Then there are the Gods, beings birthed by two of the Greater Divines, and the divine beings, which are made directly by the Greater Divines. Gods and divine beings represent more specific non-singular aspects of reality, such as trees or lakes. After that there are the supreme beings, birthed by two of the gods, and demigods or spirits, which are make directly by the gods. supreme beings and demigods are usually servants of their respective god(s) that do their bidding lest them being destroyed by their insubordination. Finally there are the 'Enlightened' who are a controversial lot. Some think that enlightened beings are simply humans that the heavens have chosen to be prophets, oracles, or champions. Others think that enlightened beings are birthed from humans who have either slept with a or been secretly impregnated by a demigod. Either way, the enlightened are always human who usually end up being the subject of stories or the writers of important scriptures.

[edit] [top]Gods and Divine Beings

Gods are the offspring of two Greater Divines, note that the Greater Divines can be both sexes, but some seem to prefer to give birth to their god children. Divine beings are not offspring from the Greater Divines, but rather direct creations from them. Unlike their god counterparts, divine beings cannot bear children or create lesser beings.
