You think I'm an ignorant savage/and you've been so many places
You have gone so many places

tva navi nāmchovashta māstonayam yenittikmīnan jeneci

I guess it must be so.
So I must be ignorant.

ityem yam a nūmugh.

But still I cannot see,
but i do not understand

nosht nina yam cotachol.

If the savage one is me,
if i am ignorant,

yam a nūmugh bāstisha

How can there be so much that you don't know? You don't know...
why don't you know anything?

pokinu nina tva nimronoyu zhnatikmī?

You think you own whatever land you land on.
You grab whatever land you find

qabaqa hamra đŏqi abŏ hen-huiđala.

The Earth is just a dead thing you can claim.
You think the earth is just an object

ŏs iđaqa La Her hes aira qab.

But I know every rock and tree and creature
But every rock and tree and creature

nŭn osamara nabrur toŋ đŏru toŋ đemon

Has a life, has a spirit, has a name.
is living, desires, is named.

(You) walk a stranger's path

ha̋we ʌo hupoba 'upu ha̋opa—

You'll learn things you never knew you never knew.
you'll learn the unknown

pahoape'e pő pohupa wexa.

Have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon?/Or asked the grinning bobcat why he grinned?
have you heard a wolf howl to the full moon?

moala dode maofa fei sidarre mire ñetī laisotifi edetoho no?

Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?/Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains?

moala feipe hinape nni tahahe sio tañiti hotoho no?

Can you paint with all the colors of the wind?
(You) paint with the wind.

feipe matahe sio ehañiti…

Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest/Come taste the sun-sweet berries of the earth
let's run in the hidden paths of the forest

thradɔ, mūtīnet ili milarmɔ līthɔrodū ilmanīlnogge paīn.

Come roll in all the riches all around you,
let's roll in the grasses

thradɔ mīpsī ili vathī vahanēlprē

And for once never wonder what they're worth.
They are priceless

bame xhīdadna reyalmɔ.

Akoshalu
The rainstorm and the river are my brothers.
the rain is my sibling.

bi okolu pasa chafɘlu wa tilu

The heron and the otter are my friends.
The birds and the fish are my friends

bi dachalu pasa fɘlolu wa tilu

And we are all connected to each other
we are connected to one another

tilu tilu poshisa wu fɘchalu

In a circle, in a hoop that never ends.
we are an infinity.

tilu tilu pasa bo akozu ulu.

Firŏglosan
How high does the sycamore grow?
suqŏru huego bŭ mehrosra?

If you cut it down, then you'll never know.
If you felled it you would never know.

hen-đrogala tanni an-an-beiđala.

And you'll never hear the wolf cry to the blue corn moon.
And you never hear a wolf sing to the moon.

aque an-an-gluso ulkos qehnađ ha masan

Ròaslal Fìdug
For whether we are white or copper skinned,
Regardless of pink or orange skin

yòshirlou wò ùlou yòshig bi firà

We need to sing with all the voices of the mountains,
We must sing with the voices of the mountains,

fayǎic wolfirig bi ǎwig sa ǎushu

We need to paint with all the colors of the wind
Must paint with the colors of the wind.

ùddonǎg bi shì-ǎr sa shofǎrshu

Vādpukhzhu
You can own the Earth and still,
if you own the earth

Semahīyayu bevlakisha,

All you'll own is earth until,
you will own dirt

pūrtikvayu vlakikmīsha

You can paint with all the colors of the wind.
you must paint with all the colors of the winds.
